Beloved Internet Mascot Kidnapped To Raise Funds for Tribal Blogs Conference
Tribal Blogs Conference organizers kidnap much-loved blogging mascot, Bacon, of The Adventures of Bacon blog, in bid to raise funds for their Kickstarter project.
St. Paul, Minnesota, May 09, 2011
Tribal Blogs Professional Blog Network (www.tribalblogs.net), a community of over 1,000 national and international bloggers, issued an announcement in February regarding the first ever Tribal Blogs conference. The conference is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota June 23-25, 2011.
Founder of Tribal Blogs, Jennifer Brown, launched the Kickstarter project less than a week ago, and is deeply moved by the response she’s already received. “Because Kickstarter is an all or nothing type funding method, we set the goal low, at $500. We surpassed that amount after just 2 days and I was overwhelmed! I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am to everyone.”
While conference fees will be covering a large portion of the costs, the goal is to provide an affordable learning experience to as many writers as possible. This means not all the costs are being covered by registration. The objective of the Kickstarter project is to fulfill the remaining cost obligations, as well as sponsor several deserving, struggling writers.
“While we’ve already had such a positive response,” Brown laughs as she adds, “We knew it would take more to meet our goals. We were desperate. We kidnapped Bacon as a last resort. We’ve already contacted Devon, Bacon’s owner, and let her know we’re prepared to give Bacon back, for a price. Of course, if there were a meat processing company out there prepared to sponsor us for Bacon’s return, we’d be more than happy to negotiate!”
The Tribal Blogs conference is open to members and non-members alike. Tickets are still currently available. Tribal Blogs Conference Speaker, Publish Green, To Give Away $1,000 Premium E-Publishing Package.
Publish Green CEO Mark Levine and Emily Gable, E-publishing Coordinator, to give away $1,000 Premium E-Publishing Package at Tribal Blogs Conference
St. Paul, Minnesota, May 5, 2011
Tribal Blogs Professional Blog Network (www.tribalblogs.net), a community of over 1,000 national and international bloggers, is thrilled to announce that Publish Green will be giving away a $1,000 Premium E-Publishing Package to a lucky conference attendee. Mark Levine, CEO and Emily Gable, E-Publishing Coordinator, are featured speakers at the conference and will be focusing their session on publishing EBooks. The conference is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota June 23-25, 2011.
“This is exactly what our attendees have been hoping for,” says Jennifer Brown, founder of Tribal Blogs. “So many writers blog in order to hone their skills and find their audience. When they feel like they’ve accomplished that, they find themselves at a loss as to how to proceed.”
Levine and Gable will be talking about the importance of having a well-formatted eBook, the pros and cons of formatting an eBook yourself vs. having it professionally done, and the requirements for eBook publishing.
“Many writers don’t realize how many things can go wrong.” Brown continues, “With the eBook file, for example, you can reach the point of submitting it to a retailer just to have it refused because it’s an invalid file. After the time and effort spent writing, editing and marketing a book, to have it refused because of the type of file you used can be devastating.”
The publishing package features include complete ownership for the author, revisions, Amazon.com distribution, iBookstore distribution, Google eBookstore distribution, listing with 28 additional distributors, EPUB conversion (for iPad, Nook and other eReaders), 100% royalties, MOBI conversion (for Kindle), a MyBookOrders.com sales page and a copy of eBook Marketing for Pennies.
The Tribal Blogs conference is open to members and non-members alike. Tickets are still currently available. For more information about Tribal Blogs Professional Blog Network, please visit www.tribalblogs.net.

Minnesota Blogging Network Announces Conference
Minneapolis, Minnesota – February 28, 2011
Tribal Blogs, Professional Blog Network is gearing up for its very first blog conference June 23 – 25, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. Not your typical network, Tribal Blogs is made up of writers – humor writers more often than not – who don’t necessarily fit into a particular niche. A nearly even balance of men and women members provides well-rounded viewpoints, experiences and insights. Tribal Blogs is open to any type of blogger and non-members are more than welcome to participate in the conference.
It Takes A Village To Raise A Blog
When Jennifer Brown started her blog, Redheadranting.com, over four years ago, she spent several months using a few of the well-known networking sites trying to increase her readership, meet great writers and perhaps even find a mentor. While she did develop relationships with a number of other bloggers, using the networks proved frustrating. Most members were just “clicking through” in order to meet the requirements, resulting in a lack of quality traffic. It was also time consuming to find blogs which were not simply filled with embedded links, strategic keywords and poor content. “I just wanted to get back to writing,” Brown says, “and it wasn’t possible using those networking sites.”
In March, 2010, Brown launched Tribal Blogs, Professional Blog Network for writers who want to take their blogs to the next level, whatever that level might be. With forums dedicated to answering questions about writing, offering opportunities for monetization, proposing methods for increasing web traffic, providing venues to promote and allowing for virtual social activities, it is a place where ideas can be exchanged and developed, where goals can be met. Tribal Blogs is free to join with a premium membership level available and is a networking site unlike the others. There are no click throughs required, no widgets, badges or ads. There are, however, writers who care about their writing, their readers and their fellow bloggers.
From A Village To A Community
Growing quickly from dozens to hundreds of members, located all around the world, Tribal Blogs has nevertheless managed to maintain an intimate, personal “village” feel.
“I was so excited when we started to grow, but also apprehensive that people would get lost in the crowd” reflects Brown. “We’ve got such incredible members though, really dedicated to supporting one another.” She laughs when she adds “We’ve even let the boys into our weekly Slumber Party, just so they wouldn’t feel left out!”
The Tribe Has Spoken
With the Tribe growing and virtual friendships forming at a brisk pace, a live conference was the logical next step. Brown put out a tentative call to members and was immediately rewarded with a team of volunteers to help plan, organize, find sponsors and speak at the conference. “With this kind of response, I know our first conference will be a success!” Brown states confidently. “I’m already thinking about what we can do next year.”
